Two youths have
allegedly been killed in Kafanchan, headquarters of Jama’a local government
area of Kaduna state, leading to a 24-hour curfew being imposed on the town.
The incident
reportedly happened when hundreds of youths trooped out, insisting on jungle
justice to be meted out on about 20 fulanis who were arrested with weapons by
soldiers at a check point in Kafanchan town.
The vehicle, a
Mitsubishi Canter was said to have been conveying the Fulani men to an unknown
destination, a source told Thisday, adding that the weapons were hidden
underneath the truck and were covered with mats and motorcycles.
12 AK-47 riffles,
about 13 Dane guns, a bag of ammunition, machetes, knives and improvised
explosives among others were discovered in the vehicle.
Hundreds of youths
were said to have mobilised to the scene of the incident, demanding instant
justice for the culprits. The youths were alleged to have been killed during
efforts to control the crowd.
