Five-time Olympic swimming champion Ian Thorpe may lose the use of
an arm following infections he contracted after shoulder surgeries, his manager
James Erskine has said to Australian news media, including CNN affiliate Seven
Network.
The Australian's condition is
"serious but it's not life-threatening," and he likely will never
again swim competitively, Erskine told the Australian Associated Press.
Thorpe, 31, required shoulder
surgery in January after falling at home, his management company has said.
