The spate of mob action in Oyo
State continued yesterday evening as a sales boy was allegedly beaten to death
in the Akinyele area of Ibadan, the state capital.
Since the discovery penultimate Saturday of a forest where human bones and some
apparently kidnapped persons at the throes of death were kept for suspected
ritual purposes, at least three persons have been lynched by a mob in different
parts of the state over suspicions that they are ritualist.
The latest victim,
Lukman Adebayo, whose offence could not be ascertained as at press time, was
allegedly beaten with clubs.
The state police
command spokesperson, SP Olabisi Ilobanafor, who confirmed the incident, said
one Olumide Adeleke from the Akinyele Trailer Park, Moniya, reported that a
sales boy was beaten and had been rushed to St. Patrick Hospital where he was
pronounced dead.
Ilobanafor said four
persons, namely, Ali Lawal Garba, Garuba Bakare, Bello Muhammed and Iliyasu
Bashiru had been arrested in connection with the incident.
She said after
investigations have been concluded, the suspects would be charged to court for
murder.
